FAQs
How much does plastering cost in Dublin?+
Plastering is priced after a site visit. The price depends on the area, whether walls need skimming or full re-plastering, how much old plaster has to come off, ceiling height and access. We give a written, itemised quote.
What is the difference between skimming and plastering?+
Skimming is a thin finishing coat (a few millimetres) over sound walls or plasterboard. Re-plastering removes failed plaster and builds the wall back up in layers before the finish coat.
How long before I can paint new plaster?+
New skim usually needs several days to a couple of weeks to dry, depending on thickness, heating and ventilation. Start with a mist coat once it has turned an even light colour.
Can you plaster over old plaster or artex?+
Often yes, if the surface is sound. We check for loose or hollow areas, fix them and apply a bonding coat before skimming.
Do you do external render repairs?+
Yes. We repair cracked or blown render and sand-and-cement, and can re-render full elevations. See our external render and dry dashing pages for larger jobs.
Which areas do you cover?+
All of Dublin, with selected projects in Kildare, Meath, Wicklow and Westmeath.
